Mahnke Auto Body Brighton
Since, November 2016, Sean McCall has been with Mahnke as General Manager of the Brighton location. He says Mahnke’s well respected leadership and the company’s excellent reputation for quality repairs and customer service attracted his attention. Mahnke’s culture of employee empowerment and foundation of powerful core values is important to him. Mahnke employees are encouraged and supported in making immediate and effective decisions, to always “do the right thing.”
A close friend of Gary Mahnke’s told Gary of an opportunity to purchase an existing auto body business on the premises of Johnson Auto Plaza, in Brighton. Dick and Mary Lou Johnson offered a new lease to Mahnke and in 2007, the Brighton location was opened. It was a tidy shop with room to grow. The Mahnke family was excited to expand their well established reputation and brand into the Brighton community.
Gary Mahnke and his youngest daughter Beth, worked together to build the business. After many months, both felt assured that Beth was ready to take on the reins of General Manager, in 2010. Beth and her crew worked hard, and together they carried the shop through the most difficult years of the Great Recession. Business kept coming in the doors, slowly at first and then with ever increasing volume and consistency.
Five years after the Brighton shop was launched, Johnson Auto Plaza had grown to the point they needed the space occupied by Mahnke. Within two weeks of the news, Gary Mahnke had scouted and purchased a great location in a light industrial area, to the west of downtown Brighton. Joel Mahnke, Gary’s nephew, served as designer and contractor for a complete re-design and renovation. Floors were made level; tall overhead doors were added, along with paint booths, frame racks, bays for technicians and attractive new office space with a conference room. Within a surprisingly short time, Beth, with the help of her crew, coordinated the massive relocation of heavy repair equipment and all the tools and materials from their previous location to their sparkling new shop. Mahnke Auto Body Brighton opened its doors at 109 West Walnut Street, in 2012.
The Mahnke family is thankful to Dick and Mary Lou Johnson, the City of Brighton, the members the Rotary Club of Brighton, and the Brighton Chamber of Commerce for their ongoing friendship, support and encouragement. Sean McCall and all the employees at Mahnke Auto Body in Brighton are proud and honored to always do their best to provide high quality collision repairs and excellent customer service.
